Serious incident to the aircraft ATR-42, registration LY-DAT

Flight route from Esbjerg to Billund, Kingdom of Denmark

On 17 March 2016, during a domestic flight from Esbjerg to Billund, the right engine of the aircraft ATR 42-50, registration LY-DAT, flamed out. During landing, the torque of the aircraft's left engine dropped to zero and the autopilot switched off. At the same time, the aircraft crew heard a loud bang and the cabin crew noticed flames coming from the left engine. The aircraft landed shortly thereafter. No injuries were sustained by the crew or passengers during this serious incident. The aircraft was not damaged.

Safety investigation is conducted by the Danish Safety Investigation Authority (Havarikommissionen).
