Accident to the glider LAK-17B FES, registration D-KIBR

On 18 August 2023 the glider LAK-17B FES, registration D-KIBR, during a winch launch performed a steep nose-up attitude take off. The pilot lost control and the glider flipped over the left wing and impacted on the airfield site. The pilot was fatal injured. The glider was destroyed.

The safety investigation is performing by the Safety Investigation Authority of Austria (Sicherheitsuntersuchungsstelle des Bundes (SUB)).

The Republic of Lithuania, as a state of design and manufacturer, has appointed the accredited representative and his technical advisor to this safety investigation.
