Serious accident with seagoing ship Aramis, IMO 9281592

On 28 September 2019, seagoing ship Aramis, IMO 9281562, registered in the register of seagoing ships of the Republic of Lithuania, while proceeding in the river Rhone, pilot on board, stroke the deck of the road bridge with her wheelhouse, the top of which tore off and fell into the water. Soon after that, ship lost control and hit the right bank pile of the railway bridge 200 m further on. The crew managed to stop the vessel 700 m after the bridge. The ship's superstructure, forward part of the hull and some other structures were damaged during the accident, two persons in the wheelhouse were non seriously injured. After the accident ship was towed for repairs.
Safety investigation was carried out by the French Marine Casualties Investigation Board (Bureau d‘enquetes sur les evenements de mer), in close co-operation with Investigator in charge of maritime accidents and incidents (Lithuanian Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Division).
