Incident with tugboat Westsund, IMO 7822421

On  20 January  2019, tugboat Westsund, towing the ship Pan Trader (IMO 5330826)  for recycling, without crew, which had a list to the port side, (hereinafter referred to as the towed object), entered Klaipeda State Seaport. Following the mooring of the towed object at berth 131, the latter was provided with shore assistance to ensure her buoyancy and measures were taken to reduce the risk of possible pollution. The environment was not polluted, no damages to ships, nor to shore infrastructure were reported, no injuries sustained.

The incident report was received on 7 October, 2020. It shall be noted that maritime accidents and incidents must be assessed and a decision made whether or not to carry out a safety investigation within two months of the date of the accident or incident. Maritime accidents and incidents must be reported immediately to the investigator-in-charge of maritime accidents and incidents.
