On 29 April 2022 over Končiar hill above the village of Trebostovo, Slovakia, during the competition, a glider SZD-48 Jantar Standard 3 registration LY-GBI, piloted by a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, and a glider SZD-48 Jantar Standard 3 registration SP-3688, piloted by a citizen of the Republic of Poland collided in the air. Both pilots were fatally injured. Both gliders destroyed.

The safety investigation is performing by the Slovak safety investigation authority (Letecký a námorný vyšetrovací útvar).

The Republic of Lithuania, as a state of the pilot’s nationality and a state of registry and operator of the glider, has appointed the accredited representative and his technical advisors to this safety investigation.
