Approximately 1.8 km north of the coast of Jūrmala in the Gulf of Riga, the Republic of Latvia
On August 15, 2026, at approximately 13.30 hrs. (local time) the experimental-ultralight helicopter Konner K1-S19, registration LY-HVR, took off from the Gatciems airfield for a flight to Adazi aerodrome (EVAD). Around 5-7 minutes after the take-off, whilst flying over the Gulf of Riga near Jūrmala, the helicopter suffered a technical failure. The pilot conducted a forced landing on water (ditching). The sole pilot on board was rescued and was uninjured. The helicopter sank.
Safety investigation is conducted by Latvian Safety Investigation Authority.
The Republic of Lithuania, as the state of registry, has appointed the accredited representative to this safety investigation.
