Incident to the aircraft Cessna 172, registration LY-FTG, and aircraft Cessna 172, registration LY-FTA

On 29 July 2026, the aircraft Cessna 172, registration LY-FTG, which was carrying out take-off and landing manoeuvres, was instructed by ATC to circle in the base leg of the aerodrome circuit to allow Cessna 172, registration LY-FTA, which was on final approach to runway 13, to land, but it came too close to the aircraft Cessna 172, registration LY-FTA, forcing the latter to perform a go-around to avoid a possible collision. The crew were uninjured. The aircraft were not damaged.

The safety investigation is conducted by the Safety Investigation Authority of Spain (es. Autoridad Administrativa Independiente para la Investigación Técnica de Accidentes Ferroviarios, Marítimos y de Aviación Civil).

The Republic of Lithuania, as a state of operator and the state of registration, has appointed the accredited representative and his technical advisor to this safety investigation.
