Very serious accident with Maltese-registered tanker Samus Swan, IMO 9401312

On September 11, 2021 a fire broke out in the engine room of the Maltese-registered ship Samus Swan, IMO 9401312, which was proceeding in Mediterranean sea. Two crew members were injuried and on of them died (citizen of the Republic of Lithuania) as a result of injuries during fire. The fire was extinguished by the ship’s crew, the ship was towed to a port in Sicily.

Safety investigation was conducted by the Marine Safety Investigation Unit - Transport Malta.
