Safety Investigation Report of the accident to the glider SZD-48-3 Jantar Standard 3, UR-KABV, that occurred on 3 August 2024, 1,4 km south of Paluknys aerodrome, Trakai district municipality, the Republic of Lithuania has been published
On 3 August 2024, the glider SZD-48-3 Jantar Standard 3 was returning from a training flight and approaching Paluknys aerodrome for landing. At 16:33, on the final approach at low altitude, the glider lost speed and crashed 1.4 km south of the Paluknys aerodrome reference point. The glider was destroyed. The pilot was seriously injured.
The probable cause of the accident is loss of control of the glider during the final approach phase. Meteorological and geographical conditions at the aerodrome may have contributed to the accident.
