Safety Investigation Division participated in 5th Nordic - Baltic meeting of Marine Accident Investigation Authorities
On 27-28 May 2025, Safety Investigation Division participated in the 5th annual meeting of marine accident investigation bodies of the Nordic and Baltic states in Oslo, the Kingdom of Norway, this year organized by the Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority. During the meeting the Law on Safety Investigations, which entered into force in Lithuania on January 1, 2025, was introduced and also provided relevant information about safety investigations in Lithuania and the published safety investigation reports, and shared experience in conducting marine accident safety investigations. During the meeting it was discussed about the shadow fleet issues, the threats posed by such vessels, the actions of safety investigation authorities and their role in responding to violations of underwater maritime infrastructure.
