Safety Investigation Report of a serious incident to an aircraft Airbus A320-214, registered OO-SNI, that occurred on 21 June 2023 in Vilnius International Airport, in Vilnius, the Republic of Lithuania, has been published
On 21 June 2023 at 12:56, the aircraft Airbus A320-214, registration OO-SNI, was lining up on the departure runway at Vilnius International Airport, when the main landing gear wheel #2 (inner wheel) separated, leading to parts scattering and the tyre departing the aircraft completely. The expulsion of parts from the wheel caused damage to the aircraft. No passengers or crew were injured. The passengers and crew disembarked normally.
The safety investigation determined that the wheel separation occurred due to fatigue caused wheel tie-bolt failure.
