Safety Investigation Report of the accident to the hot air balloon Kubiček BB45Z, LY-LID, that occurred on 28 September 2025 1,2 km northeast of Mančiūnai village, Alytus district, the Republic of Lithuania, has been published
On 28 September 2025 at 18.25 hrs the hot air balloon Kubiček BB45Z, registration LY-LID, piloted by a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania performing a commercial passenger flight landed firm, bounced slightly off the ground followed by another bump, then the basket tipped over onto its side and was dragged for several meters. One passenger suffered a broken arm during landing. The hot air balloon was not damaged.
It is likely that the passenger either let go of her hands after landing, not expecting a second impact with the ground, or was unable to hold on tightly enough to maintain the landing position. This may have been influenced by the pilot's description of the landing, which the passenger did not fully understand.
